L.A. COVID-19 cases skyrocket to 27,000 as health officials plead: 'Act responsibly'

Los Angeles County reported another surge in coronavirus cases today, prompting health officials to urge residents to curtail large New Year's celebrations.

The county's caseload has doubled over the last two days and today reached 27,000 new cases. About 1 in 4 people who get tested are positive for the coronavirus.
