Featured  Experimenters at Colorado State University are using our tax dollars to trap birds, infect them with West Nile virus, watch as they develop symptoms from the infection, and then kill them. Confinement alone causes tremendous stress to the trapped birds, and this is compounded when they're injected with West Nile strains and subjected to multiple blood draws, including from their jugular veins. These experiments don't help birds or humans—and they need to end now.  Meet Mayflower, a baby turkey who was found at a Pennsylvania auction. He was about to be carted off to slaughter in order to be turned into a sad Thanksgiving centerpiece. In a stroke of luck, a PETA staffer and Long Island Orchestrating for Nature—an animal-advocacy organization—helped rescue him and a dozen other sickly baby turkeys and ducklings, saving them from miserable deaths.  "Outside dogs" left in the rain and snow without shelter may not make it through the dark, cold days of winter—they desperately need your help.  Animals on fur farms are crammed inside tiny cages for their entire lives. They frantically pace back and forth and mutilate themselves—signs of captivity-induced insanity. Fortunately, designers and companies worldwide are ditching fur after learning about the cruelty inherent in the industry. Designer Jean Paul Gaultier recently announced a fur ban, following years of pressure from PETA, which proves that the world is waking up and choosing compassion. Now, put pressure on Macy's by urging it to join the fur-free movement today. Tragically, at least 55 dolphins and whales have died in concrete tanks at SeaWorld over the past 10 years. In seaside sanctuaries, they would have been able to thrive in the enrichment and diversity of their natural habitat while still receiving care, feeding, and veterinary support. Today is #RetireSeaWorldDolphinsDay, and we all need to tell AAA to end its affiliation with SeaWorld immediately.
