A disturbing PETA Asia investigation—the first of its kind—into China’s badger-brush industry reveals that badgers are confined to small cages before being violently killed for paint, makeup, and shaving brushes. To kill them, workers bashed them in the head with whatever object was handy, including a chair leg. One badger was still moving for a full minute after his throat was cut.
After PETA shared the video footage with Procter & Gamble, which owns The Art of Shaving, it made the compassionate decision to stop buying badger hair immediately and end its sales of badger-hair shaving brushes. But GBS (Gents Barbershop and Spa), New York Shaving Company, and Dick Blick Art Materials are still selling it.
View footage and photos from the investigation, urge these companies to drop badger hair immediately in favor of synthetic brushes, and refuse to buy brushes made out of badger hair.
