The Bureau of Transportation Statistics will release the following data sets in the next two weeks:
Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 - 11:00am ET The release summarizes the value of freight transported in July by truck, rail and other modes between the U.S. and Canada and the U.S. and Mexico with the top states, ports and commodities. Last month, BTS reported that the top two modes in June for those freight movements were truck and rail. Trucks moved freight valued at $66.6 billion, up 5.3 percent compared to June 2017. Rail moved freight valued at $15.7 billion, up 2.0 percent during the same period.
Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018 - 11:00am ET BTS Airline Fuel Cost and Consumption database to be updated with August data. Last month, US airlines July fuel cost was $2.20 per gallon, down 1 cent from June ($2.21) and up 65 cents from July 2017 ($1.55). Industry summary of airline fuel consumption, total fuel cost and price paid per gallon are available on the database. Individual airline numbers through March are available on the BTS website.

BTS has released the following:
Sept. 13 The Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI), which is based on the amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry, fell 0.9 percent in July from June, falling after reaching an all-time high in June. The index rose 4.8 percent from July 2017. The July 2018 index level was 42.5 percent above the April 2009 low during the most recent recession.
Sept. 14 U.S. airlines carried a new seasonally-adjusted high of 74.8 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in June 2018, up 1.0 percent from May for the fifth consecutive monthly increase.
Sept. 17 The release summarizes net profit, operating profit, operating revenue and operating expenses for the U.S. scheduled service passenger airlines for systemwide, domestic and international operations. U.S. scheduled passenger airlines reported an after-tax net profit of $3.4 billion in 2Q 2018, up from $1.7 billion in 1Q 2018 and down from $4.7 billion in 2Q 2017. Additional financial numbers for all airlines are available on the BTS financial databases.
Sept. 20 BTS reported that U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 3.6 percent more workers in July 2018 than in July 2017:
