Featured When PETA's Emergency Rescue Team found dogs and chickens stuck in flooded cages with no way to escape from the rising water; a dog desperately swimming around his flooded yard; a scared, abandoned dog left on the porch of a flooded home; and many others in life-threatening situations in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, it took action and brought the animals to safety. Following appeals from PETA and local activists, Los Angeles City Council members voted unanimously in favor of a citywide ban on fur sales. Thank you to everyone who made their voices heard and helped make this monumental victory possible. Now, please urge Canada Goose to drop fur in favor of using superior cruelty-free materials in its jackets. The photos and videos coming out of the Carolinas give just a tiny glimpse of what our rescue team members are finding—and many animals are still in danger. Please make a special gift to PETA's Animal Emergency Fund to help power our lifesaving rescue work worldwide. You can spare sensitive turkeys a miserable life and painful death. Take our "persuasion pledge" now and urge others to help save lives while feeding families in need. In China's badger-brush industry, badgers are illegally hunted using snares and other cruel methods. Others are confined to cramped wire cages and left with severe, untreated injuries. Eventually, they're killed so that their hair can be used for brushes. In episode 2 of PETA Reveals, peta2 staffer Marissa Price calls on feminists to include all individuals in their sphere of protection and explains that abuse, rape, and murder are experienced across species lines. Animals exploited for circuses are often forced to perform under the threat of punishment. Whether they're elephants, camels, or others forced to give rides or perform meaningless tricks for circuses, animals sometimes get spooked or snap under the pressure of constant abuse, putting humans at risk. Urge circuses to stop using animals in their acts. North Carolinians were, of course, concerned about the massive amount of water being dumped on their land as Hurricane Florence moved across the state. But the storm threatened to dump far more than water—billions of pounds of pig feces could cover the state, too, and likely threaten drinking water sources and human lives. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has released thousands of balloons at each home football game for the past 50 years. Let school officials know that animals can sometimes choke or suffocate when they mistake the balloon fragments for food, birds have been found with balloon latex binding their necks, beaks, and legs, and more. Following a PETA appeal, South Korea stopped requiring that dogs be subjected to a year-long pesticide poisoning test. Japan, Canada, the European Union, and the United States previously eliminated this cruel test following discussions with PETA scientists, sparing thousands of animals every year. We still need your help to end other experiments on dogs—tell Texas A&M University to stop its cruel dog experiments now. Urgent Action Needed |
