The Bureau of Transportation Statistics will release the following data sets in the next two weeks:
Thursday, Sept. 13 - 11:30am ET The Freight TSI measures the month-to-month changes in for-hire freight shipments by mode of transportation. The Passenger TSI measures the month-to-month changes in travel that involves the services of the for-hire passenger transportation sector. In the previous release for June, BTS reported that the Freight TSI rose 0.4 percent from May to reach an all-time high. The index was up 8.2 percent from June 2017.
Friday, Sept. 14 - 11:00am ET U.S. airlines monthly passengers, revenue passenger-miles, available seat-miles and load factor for systemwide, domestic and international. Numbers are seasonally-adjusted and unadjusted. In the previous release for May, U.S. airlines carried a new seasonally-adjusted high of 73.9 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers, up 0.1 percent from April for the fourth consecutive monthly increase.
Monday, Sept. 17 - 11:00am ET The release summarizes net profit, operating profit, operating revenue and operating expenses for the U.S. scheduled service passenger airlines for systemwide, domestic and international operations. The BTS first quarter release said that U.S. scheduled passenger airlines reported an after-tax net profit of $1.7 billion in the first quarter of 2018, down from $5.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017 and down from $1.9 billion in the first quarter of 2017. Additional financial numbers for all airlines will be available on the BTS financial databases.

Wednesday, Sept. 5 U.S. airlines July fuel cost was $2.20 per gallon, down 1 cent from June ($2.20) and up 65 cents from July 2017 ($1.55). Industry summary of airline fuel consumption, total fuel cost and price paid per gallon are available on the database. Individual airline numbers through March are available on the BTS website.
Wednesday, Sept. 5 Of the fleet, 20 percent met the new safety requirements for DOT-117 and DOT-117R, a significant increase from the 2 percent in 2015.
Thursday, Sept. 6 An estimated 25.5 million Americans have disabilities that make traveling outside the home difficult and 3.6 million do not leave their homes because they are disabled or housebound.
Monday, Sept. 10 U.S. airlines July employment (721,572 total full-time and part-time)), up 0.7pct from June, up 3.0pct from July 2017 (passenger+cargo). Monthly full-time and part-time employment statistics are reported by U.S. airlines that operate at least one aircraft that has more than 60 seats or the capacity to carry a payload of passengers, cargo and fuel weighing more than 18,000 pounds.
