200 dogs are skinned here every day

Some dogs were still alive and struggling after their throats were slit.

Will you help animals like Meyli escape misery and a terrifying death?

DOUBLE MY IMPACT

Dear Aaaaaaa,

Meyli is terrified. The floor around her is slick with the blood of dozens of dogs killed before her, their bodies hanging on hooks or soaking in vats of water. The slaughterhouse reeks of death—and she and the other dogs in the holding pen are frantic to escape.

Soon, a worker will pull her out of the pen with metal pincers and bash her over the head with a wooden club. Like many others, she may not die instantly—and may writhe and struggle to breathe even after her throat is slit and her skin is peeled off.

Meyli is no different from the loyal, loving dogs who share many of our homes—but rather than receiving affection, she'll be violently killed so that her skin can be turned into a belt or pair of gloves. Your gift of $5 or more will help prevent animals like her from enduring torment and pain.

Every donation to PETA's "Save Our Skins" Matching-Gift Challenge—up to our $250,000 goal—will be doubled, allowing your support to help even more dogs like Meyli as well as sheep, cows, and others who suffer for their skins. The deadline to help more animals with a matched gift is June 30, so please don't wait!

What dogs like Meyli experience seems like a scene from a horror movie, but it's happening in Chinese slaughterhouses right now. An employee at one facility told a PETA Asia field observer that just that single operation killed and skinned as many as 200 dogs each day.

The observer witnessed dog skin being turned into men's work gloves and other items that are exported from China and sold all around the world to unsuspecting consumers.

This cruelty isn't isolated to the leather trade—it's systemic throughout the fashion industry. Dogs and cats sold at animal markets are killed for their fur … on fur farms, some foxes' hearts continue to beat even after the skin is cut off their bodies … helpless lambs are mutilated and abused for wool … and geese are pinned down, screaming, as their feathers are ripped out.

PETA's exposé of the Chinese dog-leather industry inspired members of Congress to seek a ban on the importation of dog leather, and we're still building on that momentum. Thanks to kind people like you, PETA's campaigns are pushing iconic brands like Coach, Burberry, and Versace to go fur-free—and together, we're driving down the demand for leather, wool, exotic skins, and all other cruelly obtained materials so that no animal will suffer for "fashion."

Please donate to our "Save Our Skins" Matching-Gift Challenge today. Every penny of your contribution will strengthen PETA's groundbreaking work to stop the cruelty that all animals in the global skins trade face.

Thank you for your compassion.

Kind regards,

Ingrid E. Newkirk
President
