Mongolia: Internal Migration Study (Mongolian)
Internal migration within Mongolia has a long tradition that continues up until today. More recent trends, however, are exceptional in that the share of households moving from rural to urban areas – including the capital of Ulaanbaatar – is relatively high, resulting in urbanization and the depopulation of certain rural areas of origin. Given the challenges in both urban and rural areas because of internal migration, it is no surprise that the issue has become a main policy concern for the country. Nonetheless, the last internal migration survey was conducted in 2009, and there has been a shortage of thematic or in-depth study on the topic since.
This report fills that gap by providing up-to-date evidence on internal migration in Mongolia. The analysis relies on data from a recently conducted household survey across areas of both origin and destination, covering 3,715 individuals within 1,001 households. In addition, qualitative methods – including focus group discussions and in-depth stakeholder interviews – were employed to support interpretation and add nuance to the statistical findings. Using this complementary mixed-methods approach, the findings should be of great value to policymakers working on this topic.

Tens of thousands more are affected by natural and human-made disasters, with Afghanistan widely recognized as one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. These impacts combined make for a tumultuous picture of constant and fluid mobility driven by a range of drivers and push and pull factors. Guided by and in support of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been working in Afghanistan since 1992 with programming that addresses the entire migration spectrum, from point of first entry to longer-term development challenges.

Lignes Directrices Relatives aux Mesures de Réparation pour les Victimes d'exploitation dans les Chaînes d'approvisionnement en Minerais Étendues
De nombreux rapports ont fait état, ces dernières années, de travailleurs victimes d'abus, d'exploitation, voire de traite dans les chaînes d'approvisionnement. On attend donc de plus en plus des entreprises qu'elles exercent leur devoir de diligence pour lutter contre les effets négatifs de leurs activités.
Comme il est indiqué dans les Principes directeurs des Nations Unies relatifs aux entreprises et aux droits de l'homme, les entreprises ont non seulement pour responsabilité de prévenir les atteintes aux droits de l'homme, mais elles doivent aussi prévoir des mesures de réparation pour les victimes lorsqu'il y a eu préjudice. Si l'exercice d'une plus grande diligence a permis de faire des progrès pour prévenir les atteintes aux droits de l'homme, l'élaboration d'orientations et de pratiques exemplaires destinées à aider les entreprises à remédier aux effets négatifs de leur activité sur les droits de l'homme lorsque de tels effets se produisent est restée limitée.

Dialogue international sur la migration No. 28: Des partenariats novateurs et ouverts à tous pour une bonne gouvernance mondiale des migrations
En 2018 s'est tenue la 45e édition du Dialogue international sur la migration – la principale enceinte multipartite de dialogue sur les politiques migratoires de l'OIM. Lancé en 2001 pour renforcer le rôle du Conseil de l'OIM en tant que forum de dialogue sur les politiques migratoires, en accord avec la Constitution de l'Organisation (article 1.1 e)), l'IDM est le plus ancien dialogue sur la migration ouvert aux États et à diverses parties prenantes de la migration du monde entier pour aborder toutes les questions relatives à la gouvernance des migrations.
En considération du rôle central que jouent les partenariats entre tous les acteurs pour promouvoir des solutions efficaces aux défis migratoires et mettre en oeuvre le Programme de développement durable à l'horizon 2030 et le Pacte mondial sur les migrations, et en réponse aux appels en faveur d'un renforcement des partenariats lancés lors de l'IDM 2017 et à la réunion de bilan de décembre 2017, l'IDM 2018 avait pour thème « Des partenariats novateurs et ouverts à tous pour une bonne gouvernance mondiale des migrations ».
Deux ateliers ont été organisés, respectivement à New York, les 26-27 mars 2018, et à Genève, les 8-9 octobre 2018. Plus de 600 participants – dont 83 panélistes – représentant des gouvernements, des organismes des Nations Unies, des organisations internationales, la société civile, le secteur privé, des associations de migrants et de la diaspora et les milieux universitaires, se sont réunis pour examiner et donner des exemples de partenariats intergouvernementaux, interinstitutions et intercommunautaires et de solutions visant à favoriser la collaboration, ainsi que pour présenter des outils et des mesures propres à renforcer les capacités dans le domaine de la migration.
Cette publication renferme un compte rendu détaillé des délibérations, articulé autour des six messages clés qui en sont ressortis. Les expériences, les pratiques exemplaires et les recommandations qu'elle rassemble concernent non seulement des approches de la migration associant l'ensemble des pouvoirs publics, l'ensemble de la société et l'ensemble du système des Nations Unies, mais aussi le renforcement des capacités aux fins d'une bonne gouvernance des migrations.
