Bureau of Transportation Statistics Upcoming Releases

May 21 through June 1

 

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics will release the following data sets in the next two weeks:

 

  • North American Freight Data, March 2018
Tuesday, May 22, 2018 - 11:00am ET
The release summarizes the value of freight transported in March by truck, rail and other modes between the U.S. and Canada and the U.S. and Mexico with the top states, ports and commodities. Last month, BTS reported that all modes of transportation moved $94.0 billion of freight between the U.S. and other North American countries (Canada and Mexico). The top two modes for those movements were truck and rail. Trucks moved freight valued at $59.5 billion, up 8.9 percent compared to February 2017. Rail moved freight valued at $13.6 billion, down 2.9 percent during the same period. The other $20.9 billion was transported on other modes.

BTS has released the following:

 

  • Passenger Airline Employment, March 2018
Thursday, May 17, 2018
BTS reported that U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 2.8 percent more workers in March 2018 than in March 2017:
  • The highest monthly full-time equivalent (FTE) employment total (434,243 FTEs) since December 2004 (436,909 FTEs).
  • The 53rd consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.
