Jerry and Peter got a happy ending—but what about cows who are still suffering?

Peter and Jerry

Dear Aaaaaaa,

When an eyewitness first sent footage of two young calves named Jerry and Peter to PETA headquarters, we were doubtful that they'd live to see better days.

They were filthy, forced to live in their own waste. Peter was so skinny and weak that he couldn't stand. Jerry had such a severe pinkeye infection that he couldn't see.

But with the support of compassionate PETA donors, we rescued them from the hellish Pennsylvania dairy farm and nursed them back to health. PETA secured a place for them at a well-respected sanctuary and sponsored their care, making sure that they'd be allowed to live a natural life—a rarity for cows today, especially for those born into the cruel dairy industry. They became fast friends with another calf and some contented adult cows.

At the sanctuary, the animals' interests—not the production goals of a money-hungry industry—take top priority.

Thank you so much for being part of this community, Aaaaaaa. People like you are helping to build a world where all animals can lead lives like Peter's and Jerry's: content, healthy, and safe from harm.
