Summary:

Most poor families in Nepal aspire to live in a brick house. Can CSEB interlocking bricks make this dream affordable? Build up Nepal, DCA and Practical Action & Community Impact Nepal shares their experience of introducing CSEB in more than 300 communities in Nepal, building 5000 houses together with partners and local entrepreneurs.

By developing a network of local entrepreneurs, it is possible to build houses at low cost across multiple locations, making it an effective method to reach vulnerable families living in challenging locations. Each enterprise creates 5-10 jobs within the community, generating resilient livelihood long after the project is completed.  

Fired bricks are responsible for 37% of Nepal's CO2 emissions from combustion (World bank 2020). Can eco-friendly CSEB interlocking bricks replace fired bricks and boost a green recovery in Nepal?

The event will provide a platform to discuss how to ensure that vulnerable families with poor financial capacity are not left behind in the reconstruction.
