Infantry Officer Recalls Sounds, Smells of Gunfights

John Reitzell went to Vietnam in the spring of 1970 as a 23-year-old second lieutenant in the Army. He earned numerous medals for valor, including the Purple Heart and three Legions of Merit. Reitzell also served in Vietnam, Korea, Germany and the Iraqi desert.
