View Online IMMEDIATE RELEASE General Officer Announcements May 31, 2023 Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced today that the president has made the following nominations: Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. for appointment to the grade of general, with assignment as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Brown is currently serving as chief of staff, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Marine Corps Gen. Eric M. Smith for appointment to the grade of general, and assignment as commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington D.C.  Smith is currently serving as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, D.C. Air Force Lt. Gen. Gregory M. Guillot for appointment to the grade of general, with assignment as commander, U.S. Northern Command; and commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.  Guillot is currently serving as the deputy commander, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. Air Force Lt. Gen. Timothy D. Haugh for appointment to the grade of general, with assignment as director, National Security Agency; chief, Central Security Service; and commander, U.S. Cyber Command, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.  Haugh is currently serving as deputy commander, U.S. Cyber Command, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey A. Kruse for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as director, Defense Intelligence Agency, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C.  Kruse is currently serving as the director's advisor for military affairs, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, McLean, Virginia. Air Force Lt. Gen. Donna D. Shipton for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as commander, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.  Shipton is currently serving as military deputy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics), Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Air Force Maj. Gen. Heath A. Collins for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as director, Missile Defense Agency, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  Collins is currently serving as the program executive officer, Ground-Based Weapons Systems, Missile Defense Agency, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael G. Koscheski for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as deputy commander, Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.  Koscheski is currently serving as commander, Fifteenth Air Force, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.
