heatstroke893 children have died due to vehicular heatstroke since 1998. The national average of child vehicular heatstroke fatalities per year since 1998 is 38:

  • Sadly, as of July 2021, 10 children have already died this year due to vehicular heatstroke. 

Yet, this tragedy is 100% preventable.

While it seems like an impossible mistake to make, every parent or caregiver can potentially become distracted, and distractions often fuel this devastating situation. No one is immune.

NHTSA has made available two (2) new digital videos - in English and in Spanish - that you can use, free of charge, in support of your proactive support in child heatstroke prevention.
