Dear Aaaaaaa, What do 29 million cows, 245 million turkeys, 9 billion chickens, and tens of billions of fish have in common? They’re all violently slaughtered each year so that humans can eat them. Other animals, like civet cats, suffer immensely because of human greed as well. Reading those devastating numbers, it can feel as though it’s impossible to help. But there are two things you can do right now: Cruelty to Hens Is on the Menu at Mayo Producer Kewpie PETA Asia obtained shocking video footage of injured and ill chickens at Miyapo egg farms in Japan. The abused hens reportedly produced eggs for companies like Kewpie, an international brand known for its mayo. Urge Kewpie to ditch eggs—and cruelty. Pardoned by a President, Then Left to Languish at Virginia Tech Four turkeys who received a “presidential pardon” in 2018 and 2019 are now housed in small, barren cells at Virginia Tech, condemned to spend the rest of their days in filthy conditions. These birds were supposed to live the good life—ask the university to allow PETA to move them to an accredited sanctuary. Civet Cat Poop Coffee May Brew the Next Pandemic Civet cats are stolen from their natural homes, caged, and forced to eat coffee berries so that farmers can collect their excrement and turn it into kopi luwak—a novelty coffee product that no one needs. Urge businesses to stop profiting from animals’ misery. Thank you for doing what’s in your power to help animals—if we all work together, we can make a difference.
