Invitation: Workshop on dynamic bio-geomorphological modelling

INVITATION

Deltares and The Consulate General of the Netherlands invite you to a hands-on workshop during the AGU Fall meeting on

"Dynamic bio-geomorphological modelling"

Assessing the development of natural landscapes (rivers, salt marshes, mangroves) or nature-based solutions and their services under changing (climate) conditions is challenging. To facilitate such assessments and possible solutions, we need quantitative tools. Therefore, Deltares incorporated dynamic vegetation representation in the open source Delft3D Flexible Mesh model suite, using the fast and easy-to-use Basic Model Interface technique (BMI) developed by CSDMS. Participants will learn about:

- using this technique;

- basic principles of bio-geomorphological modelling (selecting - relevant processes and timescales);

- means of representing various vegetation types in Delft3D Flexible Mesh;

- simple vegetation growth models.
