We're saving lives and we need your help! Heat kills in hot cars. Tragically in the United States, every 10 days a child dies as a result of vehicular heatstroke. Since 1998, there have been 767 deaths, 24 of which happened this year. Making it doubly tragic is these deaths were 100% preventable. Education is the first step in prevention, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is teaming up with The Weather Channel's Stephanie Abrams to spread the word on the the dangers of heatstroke. Join us LIVE tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET with @theweatherchannel and @twcstephanieabrams for "Look Before You Lock LIVE". See how hot a car can get in the summer sun, learn how to save a child trapped in a hot car, and what to do to keep your little one safe in your own vehicle. Spread the message. Let's stop this troubling trend, stop the heartbreak, and stop children from dying in hot cars. #CheckForBaby #HeatstrokeKills Follow NHTSA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up to date with the latest recalls and safety campaigns. |
