On this #IWD2024 we proudly honour & celebrate the incredible women we've had the privilege to work with over the past 65 years in Nepal. From teachers to artists, educators to cultural leaders, these remarkable women have been the driving force behind our mutual growth.

Connecting Culture Exhibition on London office
At the closing ceremony of the Connecting Culture exhibition in London head office to mark the 65 years of British Council in Nepal, we organised a panel discussion on our role in Nepal's Education and Cultural Agenda. Nepali Ambassador to the UK, H.E. Gyan Chandra Adhikari, British Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Rob Fenn and Suresh Adhikari, Secretary, Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Nepal were present at the programme

Education Symposium
We organised our 7th Education Symposium on 26 February 2024 with the theme 'Educational Excellence through the Professional Development of Teachers and Teacher Educators.'

On the occasion we also launched our latest publications on Teacher Educators Continuous Professional Development in Nepal and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Teacher Training Curriculum. 

Cambridge Outstanding Learner Award
We announce the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards winners in Nepal this month. Over 43 students in Nepal received awards for exceptional performance in Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations who achieved the Top in Country, Best Across, High Achievement.

School Leadership Conference in Zambia
Delegation from Nepal represented by Mr. Durga Prasad Bhurtel and Mr. Nagendra Prasad Dahal from Ministry of Educaiton Science and Technology participated in the School Leadership Conference organised by the British Council in Zambia last month. The Conference participated by 15 other countries focused on school leaders' role in the heart of the communities. Delegates interacted with representatives from various nations from the Middle East and Africa and a government school in Zambia.

UK Study Tour
We organised a study tour for the secretary and undersecretary from the Ministry of Education Nepal to understand the UK primary education system with a focus on inclusive education and teacher training. Along with the visit to primary schools, meeting with the department of Education, the delegates also participated in a panel discussion as a part of the closing of the culture connect exhibition at Redman Place, London.

Gender Grants
We organised a programme - Equal Together: Creative Gender Actions to showcase our 13 gender grants projects aimed at addressing the challenges faced by women, particularly those on the fringes of the gender movement and vulnerable communities across Nepal. Through this program, we aim to support organisations and individuals undertaking creative initiatives that amplify the voices of marginalised groups within Nepal's gender movement.
 

Girls Empowerment and Mainstreaming Sustainability
The programme team from the British Council in Ethiopia and the UK paid a visit to our student club as part of our Girls Empowerment and Mainstreaming Sustainability project. The study tour was all about understanding the sustainable club model we've built here in Surkhet, thanks to the incredible support from our local government.

Employer Engagement
We are supporting collaboration between TVET stakeholders in the UK and Nepal with a particular interest in employer engagement and workplace-based training models to participate in an International Skills Partnership under our Going Global Partnerships TVET programme. We've formed a partnership between a consortium of five private sector organisations led by Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce alongside a consortium of four UK partners led by Outsourcery Services with Devon and Cornwall Training Provider Network, Exeter College, Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
