NewsNet Message Service Reaches Milestone NewsNet 1,000
February 27, 2023 We are excited to announce that NewsNet, the U.S. Copyright Office's email newsletter, has delivered its 1,000th issue since its inception on November 3, 1997. For two-and-a-half decades, we have been dedicated to providing you with the latest copyright-related updates and developments. Throughout this journey, we have kept you informed of significant changes in the legal landscape of copyright, including the implementation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act, the Marrakesh Treaty Implementation Act, the Music Modernization Act (MMA), and the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement (CASE) Act. We have shared numerous opportunities to voice your opinions on regulations, reports, and studies, and we have invited you to engage with the U.S. Copyright Office through webinars, events, and learning tools—all available through our website. Since 1997, copyright.gov has grown exponentially to become a wealth of information and resources, now containing 33,000 documents, a vast array of informational videos, and quick connections to our online registration and recordation systems and public catalog. Last year, we served more than 29 million pages to 5 million unique visitors during 7.6 million visits. NewsNet initially replaced our mailed newsletter service that began in 1954 with 750 subscribers. We now have over 550,000 subscribers to 15 available topics. Our presence has also expanded to social media, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. We invite you to stay connected with us as we continue bringing you copyright news and developments.
