Dear Aaaaaaa, For years, Ben spent day after day behind the bars of a minuscule, virtually barren enclosure, with little to do except beg tourists for peanuts. Severe, untreated facial lesions scarred his chronically inflamed corneas, permanently impairing his vision, and arthritis made it painful for him to move. Right now, animals exploited and abused for entertainment need help from compassionate people like you. By renewing your PETA membership for 2019 today, you'll be helping us do even more to give animals like Ben the life that they deserve. We need 25,000 caring people to renew by January 30, so please don't wait! PETA advocated hard to rescue Ben from Tregembo Animal Park, the decrepit North Carolina roadside zoo where he was imprisoned. And after years of complaints, inspections, citations, and ultimately a lawsuit, he and another bear named Bogey were finally moved to a vast, serene sanctuary in Colorado. There, Ben receives expert veterinary treatment for his ailments while both bears can roam, forage, splash in ponds, and even hibernate this winter—possibly for the first time in their lives. They'll never again be put on display and exploited for the entertainment of gawking tourists. So far, PETA has rescued 72 bears—including Ben and Bogey—from a lifetime of captivity and abuse, and we're determined to help many more who are suffering right now. But we need your help to do all that we can for animals in 2019. Thanks to the determination of compassionate people like you, we're working hard to free animals condemned to suffer for cruel entertainment—and together, we can accomplish even more this year:
Will you join us? Renew your membership today to help create a kinder world for bears, elephants, and all other sentient beings in 2019. Thank you for your compassion and support. Kind regards, | ||||||||||||||||||
