Dear Aaaaaaa, Nearly every dog craves the affection and attention of a caring human companion—but instead of receiving a loving scratch on the head, many will struggle as a pair of hands closes around their neck and they're tossed into the back of a truck and dumped into crowded pens at a slaughterhouse. Dogs in China are being captured, beaten, and killed. They'll spend their final moments in utter terror, standing on floors slick with blood and wailing helplessly as other dogs are bludgeoned and skinned in front of them. Powered by supporters like you, PETA's work against cruelty in the fashion industry is preventing animals from being abused and killed for their skin, fur, or feathers. The PETA Asia investigation that revealed the despicable abuse of dogs in China prompted multiple members of Congress to seek a ban on the importation of dog leather, while PETA's recent exposé of the mohair industry—which revealed the misery endured by angora goats—has inspired top brands like Zara, Topshop, and H&M to swear off the use of mohair. More than 700 companies are now part of the "PETA-Approved Vegan" program—hundreds joined in the last year alone! None of the progress that we've made for animals would have been possible without the support of PETA's caring and determined members—and until the June 30 deadline, you have the special opportunity to create twice the impact on our work for animals abused for their skin. | ||||
