Dear, For Brayam Rubio, coffee is more than a morning ritual. It's the foundation for his future.
Growing up in El Refugio, El Salvador, Brayam dreamed of owning his own business. But with high unemployment rates and limited economic opportunities, many young adults struggle to find a path forward.
Determined to follow his dream, Brayam opened a small café. While he had the passion to succeed, he lacked the training and resources needed to grow his business. Then, opportunity called when he received a scholarship to attend school for future coffee entrepreneurs. Created by Catholic Relief Services along with a local partner, the school equips young people with skills that open doors in coffee production—empowering themselves and their communities. Through hands-on barista and farm management training, Brayam gained the skills to transform his small coffee shop into a thriving business and learned sustainable farming practices that deepened his commitment to caring for the environment. This inspired him to invest in coffee production. |
