This webinar, presented by senior legal information analyst Dante Figueroa and permanent official of the Italian Parliament Roberto D'Orazio, will review the main aspects and challenges concerning the protection of personal data in Italy, with a focus on foreigners temporarily present in the country. Topics include the confidentiality of electronic communications, non-disclosure of bank and financial operations, treatment of customer data, publicity of proceedings in which foreigners might be involved in Italy, and available institutional arrangements and judicial/administrative remedies in cases of breach of data protection guarantees. A particular reference will be made to the right to deletion/to be forgotten. The webinar will address the requirements of the directly applicable EU General Data Protection Regulation, cases from the Italian data protection authority, as well as other relevant regulations, such as those applicable to managers of establishments providing accommodation.
