This donkey is forced to work in a brick kiln, where he spends day after day performing backbreaking labor. His face bears the scar of a hot branding iron, his owner's cruel means of identifying him as his "property." But you and I know that animals are not property. So does Animal Rahat, and the group does everything possible to get donkeys out of this lethal line of work.
Donkeys are whipped and beaten to keep them going on long, excruciatingly hot days. They carry hundreds of pounds of bricks on their backs at a time and aren't allowed breaks, food, or water. Many collapse from exhaustion, and when they do, they're often left to die, alone and in agony.
Animal Rahat provides abused and neglected donkeys with vaccinations and other urgently needed medical care. And the group's brick kiln mechanization program rescues them from this life of horror by persuading their owners to use tractors instead of donkeys and providing funding to help them make the switch.
On behalf of the hundreds of donkeys Animal Rahat has already rescued from brick kilns and retired to peaceful sanctuaries—and all the other animals whose lives it's improved—thank you for your compassion and support.
