No animal should suffer like this. Help stop the cruelty with your year-end gift to PETA.

Dear Aaaaaaa,

When dogs are snatched off streets and taken to slaughterhouses, they see the fear on the faces of the others just like them who are crammed into pens.

They smell blood as they're dragged onto the killing floor.

They hear the cries of fellow dogs as they're bludgeoned and their throats are slit before their skin is peeled off.

Terrified and helpless, these dogs will meet the same fate as countless others before them: They'll be barbarically slaughtered, their skin harvested and sold.

If we don't protect dogs—and other animals—from such intense cruelty, who will? Please help power PETA's work to end suffering by making your year-end contribution right now. Even $5 will make a difference for animals in need.

A PETA Asia investigation exposed the horrors that dogs face in slaughterhouses across China: Workers grab them with pincers, bash them over the head, and leave many wailing and writhing until they die.

No one knows exactly how many of these facilities there are in China or how many dogs endure this hell every year.

Aaaaaaa, I know it's heartbreaking to see the horrifying images and to imagine something this terrible happening to a dog you know and love—but we must face what is occurring and do whatever we can to end this abuse.

Finding and exposing the hideous places where animals are harmed or killed, documenting the abuse, and publishing the shocking images and videos—all this is part of our vital advocacy to protect animals.

When people know about the pain and suffering that lie behind items like leather gloves, fur coats, and wool sweaters, they act. PETA Asia's investigation led members of Congress to seek a ban on the importation of dog leather and inspired Michelin to reduce its leather glove usage by switching to synthetic gloves for the majority of the more than a million orders it makes each year. Today, PETA's campaigns are empowering more consumers than ever to choose fashions that don't bleed and encouraging hundreds of designers and retailers to shun fur, angora, mohair, and other cruelly obtained materials.

Such progress is only possible with the support of compassionate people like you. We must keep pushing for a kinder world, and we need you with us.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

A cold dog's scared and lonely whimpers

Tonight, neglected "outside dogs" will spend long, frigid hours curled up and shivering

Dear Aaaaaaa,

Tonight, neglected "outside dogs" will spend long, frigid hours curled up and shivering in lonely backyards, trying to stay warm enough to survive until the sun rises again.

Without adequate shelter, their lives are in grave danger from the ice, snow, and bone-chilling winds of the weeks and months ahead.

Every custom-built PETA doghouse is sturdy and durable, designed to give a neglected "outside dog" some measure of relief during the chilliest winter nights and the hottest summer days. Each one is filled with straw to help insulate against the bitter cold, but our work doesn't end there. PETA's team also provides dogs with treats, a toy, and affection that they rarely receive from their owners.

With the generous support of donors like you, our fieldworkers have delivered more than 230 doghouses this year to give "backyard dogs" shelter when the weather turns dangerously cold. But more dogs still need our help—and we can't do it alone.

Thank you for keeping these neglected animals in your heart this holiday season—your kindness is not only remarkable but also lifesaving.
