QUOTE OF THE DAY
"Irregular migration exists because there are not enough opportunities for safety and prosperity at home and too few regular means through which to remedy that lack of opportunities."

Watch the 'Mira' film free for a limited time

Watch the Mira film for free.

Dear Trail Running Nepal subscriber,

You may have heard the sad news from the maker of the film 'Mira', Lloyd Belcher. Recently Lloyd's wife Gabbie passed away completely unexpectedly. It's been devastating for Lloyd and his daughter Anya.

Lloyd met Mira in Hong Kong in 2013 and in 2014 decided to invest an enormous amount of time and effort to tell Mira's story, and he did so beautifully.

Please read the message below from Lloyd why he has decided to open the film for anyone to watch for free.

Please do plan a time to watch the film before 16th of September.
To honour the selfless nature of my sweet Gabbie, I will be making MIRA (the film I made about Mira Rai) available to watch for free from September 1st - 16th 2019. This is an opportunity for people to watch this film & understand how instrumental Gabbie was to my work including MIRA.

She supported my dream when I jumped on a plane to Nepal to make this film about an unknown runner when I had no funding & charged no fees for making this film (all profits went to support mobile cinema screenings & programmes focused on empowering girls in Nepal). What kind of wife does this when we're already experiencing financial pressures because her husband is doing a PhD with limited income? Gabbie. That's who.

Gabbie sacrificed much for the making of this film and even gave up her school holidays to be with me during the Christmas of 2016 when we travelled with Anya & Mira around Nepal's remote mountain areas & Kathmandu Valley to screen the film in villages.

The trailer for this special memorial edition can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/60Ui9qPcLtM
