'Do Not Rehire': Panel finds Villanueva violated county discrimination, harassment policies

An oversight panel has recommended that former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva be deemed ineligible for rehire after officials found he discriminated against Inspector General Max Huntsman, according to records obtained by The Times.

The finding stems from a complaint filed in March 2022 and comments from Villanueva that accused Huntsman of being a Holocaust denier. Records show a County Equity Oversight Panel determined that Villanueva had violated several policies against discrimination and harassment and "should receive a 'Do Not Rehire' notation" in his personnel file.
