PETA's Action Alerts Really DO Save Lives—Take Part!

Victories!

Dear Aaaaaaa,

PETA is known for our bold, colorful activism on the streets, but thanks to our action alerts, iPhone app, and Reply Y text messages, anyone can take a stand against cruelty to animals anywhere, anytime! Whether we're taking on animal experimenters, clothing retailers, or animal exhibitors or working to help animals sold in the pet trade, our action alerts are vital to the success of our campaigns. The best part? Taking action online is easy.

Here's a look at a few campaigns that PETA has won with the help of our supporters:

Macy's Finally Ends All Fur Sales

After decades of massive pressure from PETA and other activists, the largest department store chain in the U.S., Macy's, announced that it would stop selling fur by the end of 2020. This ban includes all Macy's and Bloomingdale's private brands as well as items sold from brand partners. This is a monumental victory for animals who would otherwise be electrocuted, bludgeoned, suffocated, or even skinned alive for the sake of fashion.

Pharmaceutical Giant Pfizer Bans the Cruel Forced Swim Test

According to published papers, Pfizer employees had used at least 1,270 mice and rats in forced swim test experiments since 1991. But the company recently banned the test, meaning that it will no longer terrify small animals in near-drowning experiments that dubiously claim to shed light on human depression.

More Companies Stop Selling SeaWorld Tickets

No business should want to be associated with an amusement park that forcibly breeds dolphins, sometimes after they've been drugged; forces them to live in cramped, barren tanks; and uses them in circus-style shows. With each company that cuts ties with SeaWorld—including Virgin Holidays, Maritime Travel, and AAA Northeast—orcas and bottlenose dolphins move closer to a day when they are no longer held captive and can live in their rightful ocean homes.

New York City Council Overwhelmingly Bans Foie Gras

The New York City Council passed legislation that will ban the sale of foie gras beginning in 2022. Foie gras is produced by ramming a pipe down the throat of male ducks and geese and force-feeding them until their liver swells to up to 10 times its normal size.

Companies Ditch Vile Glue Traps

After hearing from PETA and just over 1,000 of our supporters, pharmaceutical company Catalent stopped using glue traps at its Morrisville, North Carolina, location. Earlier this year, PETA persuaded the City of Phoenix Aviation Department—which includes Phoenix Sky Harbor International, Phoenix Deer Valley, and Phoenix Goodyear airports—to ban and remove glue traps from its properties.

These victories and others wouldn't have been possible without your help. Want to do more for animals? Take action now!
